Science and evidence-based decision making is necessary to help solve the problems we face regionally and globally
I've been involved with the following organizations to increase science in public policy:
COMPASS Scientist Sentinels: Civic Engagement and Leadership Program
Selected as a 2020 Scientist Sentinel a nine-month program that brings together scientists working at the nexus of environment and civic engagement to advance the role of science in the United States, inspire their peers, and support evidence-based decision making at the local level and beyond.
Contractor with Inclusive Community Consulting
Contractor for Inclusive Community Consulting, an equity and inclusion collaborative, for a week-long river trip focused on the inclusion of Indigenous knowledge and values alongside western science in conservation and policy
Co-Founder of the SE Utah pod of 500 Women Scientists
An organization that works to make science more open, inclusive, and accessible, and transform society by fighting racism, patriarchy, and oppressive societal norms. Learn about our pod and the work we've done here
Read one of our OpEds about regional science and the 2019 government shutdown
Union of Concerned Scientists Local Team Leader
Selected to participate in a leadership development initiative focused on strengthening science advocacy skills as part of a partnership between the UCS and the SE UT 500 Women Scientists pod
Wyss Scholar with the Grand Canyon Trust's Utah Forests Program
Aided in compiling regionally-relevant science to inform alternative land management plans for the Manti-La Sal National Forests. The compiled peer-reviewed literature can be found here
